I chose three portraits from my project
Come Back Safely
The project accompanies a group of Palestinian construction workers and their families from present-day Israel in their daily lives.
All of them have lost colleagues or family members to work accidents. "Come back safely" aims to draw attention to the precarious working conditions the workers are facing by telling their personal stories. It captures the workers at their workplace and at home, when they reunite with their families after a long workday. Finally, it also gives space to the families who lost a son, husband or father while he was trying to make a living.
“Come Back Safely” is dedicated to all the workers who left at daybreak in search of a life in dignity and never returned... and to those who still set out to break free from poverty and exploitation.
