Senegalese immigrants

For two years, I have been accompanying and photographing Senegalese people who came to the South of Brazil, focusing on their cultural manifestations, religious parties, and celebrations, aiming to document part of the culture brought by these new immigrants. Most of the them have a formal professional education back in their homeland, but, once they arrive in Brazil, they face racial prejudice and employment restrictions. The choice for this theme intends to highlight the importance of the presence of different cultures, races, and ethnicities for the cultural development of all peoples, in a world in which borders are getting thinner and thinner. We are all immigrants!
