The Wayuu are a native people living in the Guajira, a territory in northern Colombia. They are notable for being a matrilineal society. In the Wayuu culture, women’s task is to guard moral and cultural values, and to transmit the identity of her family through generations. Hence the concept of an eternal woman, who has existed and will continue to exist forever, transferring the same knowledge from mother to daughter. A timeless figure, based on a bond that is passed on eternally through the cycles of life and history.
