Carnival is one of the biggest festive events in Brazil. In São Paulo was created, with the flow of ex users of crack, the “Cracolandia Block”, as well as organizations and collectives who live there. It is a cultural activity with the aim of bringing a bit of dignity and joy to people who are excluded from society, chemically dependent and live abandoned on the streets. The images chosen to be part of this essay were produced for the Mídia Ninja, inserted in the project Otros Carnavales, that try to portray unconventional perspectives of the carnival. It is already a classic project in which Mídia Ninja participates as the most important collective of images production in Brazil, as well as several other media, photography and audiovisual collectives in Latin America.
