Día de Muertos/Day of the Dead celebrations take many different forms in many different countries, but at its core, it is a time to remember deceased family members, often at their final resting place. Akin to All Souls Day and originally a Mexican holiday, it is celebrated where I live in California by Mexican-Americans, as well as people from other countries whose cultures have been influenced by Mexico (such as the Philippines). These photos are from one cemetery in Northern California.
