Feminine sexuality is holy, sacred. It is as diverse as women are.
There is no one right brand of sexuality nor is there one brand of femininity. Throughout history it has been feared and vilified, and subjugated and constricted, made to conform to a certain standard that was never intended to benefit women. It has often been stolen from them, and in the process, bits of soul are left to die an untimely death. Sexuality has been idealized and capitalized upon, used to sell everything from beer to cars to alcohol. Rarely, however has it been worshipped in a healthy way.
This series explores one attempt to reclaim the essence of a feminine sexual nature and sensuality by playing on the theme of the wayward woman.
I used a Polaroid 110A which has been converted to use type 100 pack film and expired Polaroid 669 film from 2003 to create these images. The expired film gives a haze of greenish blue, creating the mood of an underwater dream sequence.
