There are many oil fields to the left and right all along the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar. There are no giant petroleum companies, but thousands of people are drilling crude oil with crude means. People from different parts of the country gather here to try their luck. Their work continues 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Some get 5 barrels of petroleum a day, and some only dig in frustration. These people used to grow crops on their land, but had to destroy them in order to drill. Their relationship with nature has shifted in favor of petrol dollars.
