Horse

Horses were a big part of my life as I was growing up - they were my escape but after the age of 18, I had very little to do with them until my daughter started riding lessons. Just over a year ago I started working with these horses - most of them cobs or natives such a fell or Dales. Once again the horses became my sanctuary from an otherwise hectic life - it's a place where I go & switch off, step away from the computer & escape. I always knew I wanted to photograph them but before I did I spent time getting to know them & for them to get to know me - this allowed them to trust me & for me to feel that I could get up close & therefore allow for portraits that felt intimate. I not only love the horses but I love this place - it is one of the most beautiful places I know.
