While wandering the streets of New York City, during the summer of 1982, I often had the feeling that I was being watched by the window displays of the big stores on the main streets.
I am not prone to paranoia, I don't wear tinfoil hats, I haven't been abducted by aliens to the best of my recollection, still the feeling was often with me during my photographic wanderings.
These photos are my attempt to capture that sense of being observed. The odd thing is that the next summer when I returned to flesh out the essay, it was done. I found some interesting shots but the sense of interaction was no longer there.
