In 1999 I signed a solo record deal with TVT Records in New York. My lawyer, Sarah Stennet, was also representing Ash at that time, a band who stamped iconic songs into the minds of so many people. Roll on twenty years and I'm in Milan doing an exhibition of photographs from my trip to the refugee camps of Greece when I get a message from a great friend, Poet KiNo who I'd met in Kos earlier in the year, saying that he and Tim Wheeler will be in Rome for a while and to come down. I do exactly that and we spend a week walking around Rome, eating incredible food in all the hidden gems you don't find in the brochures and drinking into the early hours in the speak easy clubs of the city. It was a monumentous time to say the least. Then in December, on Ash's 20th anniversary tour of the album '1977' I got to hang out with the whole band and take these photographs when they played at The Roundhouse, Camden in London in December 2016.
