The Iowa State Fair is one of the largest state fairs in the country with over one million visitors over 10 days. Originally from Iowa, and as a member of the New York City Street Photography Collective (NYC-SPC), I decided to shoot the fair as I would the streets of New York. I focused on light, shadow, and color to create dynamic scenes of fair life, as well as candid subject oriented scenes to portray the fair in what I like to call 'artful documentary.' This series is influenced by photographers such as Harry Gruyaert, Gueorgui Pinkhassov, Alex Webb, and Gary Winograd among others.
