Chhetri or Chhettri, synonymous with Kshetri and Khatri are all derivatives of Kshatriya , the warrior and ruler caste group or varna of Hinduism. Chhetris speak Nepali, the national language, and are part of the dominant Khasa culture and the wider Pahari Khas-Nepali population. Chhetri refers to Kshatriyas from the hills of Nepal but not from the Nepalese Terai or India.
This body of work renders my experience of living with a Chhetri family in the northeastern part of India, Sikkim. They run a homestay for tourist in Sikkim. They also cultivate their own vegetable by in house farming and tries to preserve their culture by introducing their culture to the tourist.
