Ever since the signing of the Oslo Peace Accords in 1993 and the subsequent creation of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) as an interim government, Ramallah has become the de facto administrative capital of the PNA. This single event changed Ramallah forever, it subsequently became increasingly overcrowded with people and buildings, leading to multiple issues from pollution to destruction of local heritage and rampant corruption. Today, life in Ramallah reflects many opposites: freedom and occupation, wealth and poverty, urban and rural. These opposites are universal to many cities around the world, but each city is unique in its own way. In this series I try to capture a snapshot of my hometown, with its color and shadow, its light and darkness.
