There was a time, during the communist era, when Ceausescu regime used to force rural inhabitants to leave their homes and move to urban areas. They even resorted to destroying their places of worship and closing their schools. Thus, many small villages had found their end ultimately disappeared into ruins. Nowadays, remote hamlets seem to have the exact fate as their citizens depart to cities or other countries in search for a better life.
My project is not necessarily one that gathers documentary evidence of dilapidated thorps but one that wants to point out the spirituality of those places, with memories and human energies still residing there, all of them talking about past values, traditions, joy or suffering.
At the same time, my work is meant to be an every human mirror, each image signifying a back-to-the-roots metaphor.
