CURBING THE MAYHEM
For this project, I use the same shooting technique on land as I use underwater. All pictures have been taken outside and in the daytime, using very short shutter speeds, maximum depth of field and the internal strobe of the camera.
When showing the first results to a friend, she told me about Karl Blossfeldt and gave me a book showcasing his work.
He started to take his pictures to document his fine art drawing classes, so initially he wasn't a photographer. Blossfeldt seems to have been as surprised and fascinated by nature's beauty as I am. If photographing that beauty gave him the same peace of mind as it gives me I do not know. I suppose it did...
The long walks, the discoveries, the sore knees, the cold fingers - it is all a part of curbing the mayhem around me.
