In my work I reduce an image to its bare essentials: a gestalt, a fleeting gesture. I seek to find what visual information is necessary in order to know what is at the heart of the subject. In this series I’ve uses a slow shutter to capture the lyrical quality of birds in flight. In these fleeting moments the subject transcends itself and becomes something more mystical, evoking the exhilaration and freedom of flight, the emotion at the core of the action. Although they will be fine printed regurlar, I envision these images printed very large, -6-8 even 10 feet! These images use long shutter speeds to create dreamy images of flight. All image effects were created in-camera and none have been enhanced or manipulated in PhotoShop. No animals were harmed in the making of this project.
