In her work ANna Tautfest focuses on images of normativity and injects surprising elements into them. Of particular interest to her are bodies and their representation. She captures the stereotypical gaze on bodies and their gendered appearance, breaking with expectations by using bizarre or alienating scenarios. Human figures are configured and figured out, they seem to simultaneously blur and become transfigured. ANnas photographic process is a performative event. However, the configurations she produces in her performances have no live audience, they are only view-able as photographic print. Her sculptures manifest on paper, leaving their mark in the form of light i.e. Photographs. The sculptures being photographed are never still, they exist as performances or ephemeral events. Their fluid existence produces the blurring of a defined body as it appears in the photograph.
