As a photographer, I'm drawn to the stillness one will find in the few hours before sunrise in city parks, or even escaping out to woods on the fringes of the city. This project is an attempt to not just capture the hidden landscapes I stumble upon, but to find a way to express how alien I sometimes feel venturing beyond the glow of city lights. Balancing between the grounding force of nature and the intensity of urban life is at times disorienting, but always and extremely necessary.
This is definitely a project that will continue to grow, and in the time invested so far, I've come to discover just how important the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence are to my understanding of where I fit into this world. This is something I had taken for granted, much like I had taken for granted being able to look up at the stars before moving downtown Toronto.
