“Daring & Youth” is the name of a hooligan gang I met few years ago.Young people in the photos are hoolies, war veterans and political activists of the right-wing movement. At the same time, they belong to the globalized youth culture: they travel, party, fight for animal rights, and create their image on the Internet, like all of us.This clash of seemingly extremely diverse concepts was the main inspiration for my work. While taking photos in Dnipro, I also took part in public interventions in the abandoned Palace of Culture and in the still open Youth Palace. At that time so-called “decommunization” law was implemented. In the first place, monuments of the communist leaders were dismantled, then names of the streets and towns were changed. While observing the ongoing transformation, I began to perceive “Daring & Youth” as the metaphor for the modern political processes.
