SHM-1 aims to portrait a visual representation of hysteria through men's body. Focusing on the broken narratives that shaped the illness, the work questions the gender aspects of hysteria, the pathologization of the human body through image and the role of photography in the creation of fictional truths.
The serie addresses the staging factor of 19th century psychiatric photography by referencing and recreating Dr. Charcot's documentation about hysteria from the "Iconographie de La Salpêtrière", but this time performed by men.
