Half of us

“Half of us” is a documentary photographic series, which deals with the role of a close one of a depressed person. Statistically about half of the Finnish population has a friend or relative suffering from depression. The role of the person closest to a depressed person is seldom talked about. The balancing act between one’s own well being and supporting one’s friend or relative can be hard. Shedding light on the role of the care giver is important for the well being of both the helper and the one in need of help. The photographs are anonymously collected tissues from a therapeutics’ office. The quotes are compiled from interviews of people with close ones dealing with depression.
