My photos represent the phenomenon of aterimages (Polish - "Powidoki"). Afterimage is an image that continues to appear in one's vision after the exposure to the original image has ceased. The occurance has been inspiring many artists over the years. Wladyslaw Strzeminski, a painter, devoted a massive portion of his carreer to afterimages. I myself decided to analyse Strzeminski's theory, translate it into photography and then broaden it. Please notice, those photos are no photomanipulations, nor haven't been heavily edited. (After)images come from certain, fleeting moments. The light is being caught in motion by the camera lens which later reveals things that human eye would not register. Afterimages created by our brains are just temporary. Short-lived, usually are left behind and forgotten. My photos give you a chance to actually set your eyes on something other way unsteady and fickle. I've spend 10 years as a people helper. I know many people see those shapes and colors in their subconsious, memories, flashbacks. Some of the viewers experienced uneasiness or even anxiety after a longer while of looking at the images. I believe that in a way the afterimages (although seemingly simple and harmless) may work as triggers for past traumas and fears. I want my photography to evolve, I want to search new ways of experiencing the world, to keep inspiring myself and others. All of the photos from this group come from broader section titled "motion".
