‘The Redundant’.
We value and covet things, we are surrounded by objects we cannot live without. They are a must have, a necessity, but at some point, we forget why we bought it, or built it or craved it, and we cast it aside like a child outgrowing a favourite toy.
These objects were status symbols and work horses. They provided us with joy or were places to live. Now they are like the ghosts of our past desires and wants that we ignore and pretend don’t exist.
As much a metaphor for the state of our society, this collection of images seeks out those ghosts and spirits, forcing us to acknowledge that these things existed and begs the questions ‘why would we simply abandon what we once valued?’
