Since 2004 I have travelled to Tepoztlan in September for the Fiesta del Templo which happens on the seventh and eighth of September every year. The festival consists of a ceremony and offering at the pyramid on the mountain above the village on the seventh. This is followed by a festival at the church the next day featuring a procession feast and a dance afterward. Hundreds of pilgrims come from all over to participate and all of the barrio churches join in on the celebration at the cathedral.
Tepoztlan is located in the state of Morelos in a mountain valley that is a short drive from Cuernevaca. It is a village steeped in history with many of the old cultures intact.
