Much of my photography is about the human experience. I am passionate about creating social change, not only by shining a light on the corruption and injustice that takes place everyday in the world, but, also, by showing the world that we, as humans, have so much more in common than any differences that could set us apart. Along with my social documentary and narrative photographic projects, I have recently begun to work on a still-life series focused on exploring the delicate and fleeting beauty of flowers. These recent images allowed me to explore the intricate and ethereal nature of a flower in isolation. In this state the flower’s true beauty glows. These flowers, in many ways, represent the artist. In isolation, we often begin to understand ourselves better, and these flowers allowed me to learn and grow as an artist. Working alone with these flowers was a very concentrated and intimate experience, and, at the same time, exciting and breath taking. Every flower offered something very different, each seemed to have its own mood and energy. I am passionate about creating beautiful and thought provoking images that become an experience that resonates with the viewer.
