Tomas : From A suicide bomber to a soccer player

Story of Thomas, an 11-year old Yazidi boy from Shingal, who was kidnapped by ISIL three years ago, taken away from his parents and held hostage in Mosul. He brainwashed to a suicide bomber. During the last days of Mosul war, he was held underground in a tunnel with four other children, all of whom died there from starvation and thirst. He was the only child to make it out alive. He was carried out by a surrendering ISIL fighter. Sadly, Thomas’ story is not unique. In the past few days, more and more children have been either found in the rubble or are brought out by ISIL fighters hoping to avoid retribution by releasing children.
