Somewhere Across The Border

The enclave of Ceuta is one of the way to get Europe. Like Lesbos or Lampedusa, Ceuta, together with the enclave of Melilla, is like an island of European territory between the Mediterranean Sea and Morocco. Two six meters high fences with barbed wire on the top, called «La Valla», built with EU grants, separate the spanish territory of Ceuta from Morocco. Although less frequented by migrants than the route which from Libya leads to Italy by sea, the Free Spanish City of Ceuta represents the goal of many young sub-saharan boys. These boys, often beaten by the Moroccan Army, which patrol the frontier, and brought back to the Algerian border, live in the woods on the mountains around Ceuta waiting for the right moment to try the jump of La Valla.
