People in Lalibela early in the morning.  Lalibela is one of Ethiopia's holiest cities, second only to Aksum, and a center of pilgrimage. Unlike Aksum, the population of Lalibela is almost completely Ethiopian Orthodox Christian.

A couple carrying a goat they just bought at a livestock market in Atsby. Goat meat is the main meat consumed during the days Orthodox are not fasting. Ethiopian Christians, like some other Eastern Christians, traditionally follow dietary rules that are similar to Jewish Kashrut, specifically with regard to how an animal is slaughtered. Similarly, pork is prohibited.
