The work is a view on the Caribbean and its African Diaspora. The phrase " Quien lo vive es quien lo goza" is the Carnival call in Barranquilla and means, who lives it loves it.
The pictures are taken in the big Caribbean Region, mostly Colombia and Cuba and are focused on the everyday life of African Communities, The inhabitants of the magical islands and Caribbean places are living in poor conditions , meanwhile the tourists are using their land, beauty, water without reflecting much further. The Caribbeans are magical and beside its exotic and beautiful landscape as well destructive, bizarre and full of obstacles. Nevertheless the beauty of the people and its proudness, color and force is what I want to emphasize in this self printed fabrics, showing the similarities and outreach of Africa in the Caribbean, taking a whole unique character in itself.
The photos are all selfprinted with a photosyntetic method on Satin , embroydered and sawed with African fabrics on the back. The work is conceived to be touched and to find new perspectives on what surrounds us.
