The Ramnami: ultimate devotion

The Ramnami are a group of people that have been the lowest caste in India's caste system. Therefore, they were refused entry to temples. Being very devoted, they tried to find a different way to honour their God Ram. They found a solution. They started with a small tattoo of the name of their God on their forehead. Over time, people started tattooing their face and even their whole bodies. It is a dying tradition however, since younger generations refuse to get tattooed. Only four Ramnami are left with a full body tattoo, all very old.
