Those portraits are the part of the multidimensional “Galatea Defiant” project, initiated by two Polish artists: Honorata Karapuda, photographer and graphic artist and Chi-Chi Ude, costume and scenography designer which will once again put forward the question about the limits of freedom and subjectivity in shaping the popcultural ideal of womanhood. The photos and costumes draw inspiration from the heroines of the most famous operas. The goal is to show what the characters created decades or even centuries ago can tell us about ourselves today.
