We live in a sound-bite and hashtag world. Long-form consideration and self-reflection is harder to come by in today’s media. As a wide reader and student of philosophy and spirituality and its mind-bending concepts, I explored — and then culled — a short list of the most affecting quotes from a wide variety of sources that ultimately reveal a self-portrait of my own philosophical journey to date. My self-portrait series includes visuals, not just of myself, but of my 2 dearest friends. This series was conceived in writing, then sketches, then shot on one roll of Fuji Provia over one weekend in 2018 using a Nikon F5 and a mix of studio and field locations.
