This series started when I moved my studio from the basement to my grown children’s empty bedroom. With the furniture removed you could see evidence of the history of the room, i.e., push pin holes, fingerprints, scuff marks, and where their heads slept against the wall on their bunk beds. I started creating still lives using the wall as a backdrop. I call the series Parallel Play, a term used when toddlers play side by side not quite knowing yet how to play together. I feel like my activity is parallel play across time.
I started the series in 2014 and continue to build on it with both prints and videos. The videos look like animation but move by much simpler means. You can see my videos on Vimeo.
