The mosaics in the New York City Subway Stations are beautiful and they are old. We walk by them, we don't see them, we don't notice their craft, and we ignore the artistic aspirations which inspired them. And further, because they are degraded by age, it is easy to miss the profound melancholy which years bring to beauty.
