Vanishing rails
For a vast agricultural country, like Argentine, a train system is vital for efficient goods transportation and people connection.
But 100 years ago Argentine had more rail kilometers in use than today. Rail system started to deteriorate since '70s and never recovers. Trucks and buses poorly took its place but with a huge environmental and safety cost.
There are more than 400 little towns that are extinguishing. Towns that were born at the side of a train station, living from the richness of the Pampas's soil and the labor of its people.
On the other hand, more than a million people emigrate to the big cities, most of them living in a very precarious way and many times without permanent jobs. So cities are collapsing without opportunity to create real jobs and provide quality services for so many people.
From the metropolis, it is easy to feel the problems but difficult to see some of their roots. This work is about the emptiness and destruction left by extinction of the train system. It was done with the hope of generate reflection or, at least, to document what is extinguishing.
