I use photography and writing in a performative way in ongoing art projects that are open to public participation. In the Better World Project started in December 2013 I ask people to 'imagine a better world' before I do their portrait. The project is related in part to to Foucault's 'Heterotopia' and to Derrida's 'Democracy-to-come'; viewer, photographer and model are connected beyond Time and Space. In my other main ongoing photography series, I simply try to find spontaneous situations that lend themselves to a kind of non-pictorialist connection with Classical and Modern Masters of the likes of Vermeer or Manet, as well as contemporary visual artists or photographers like Bill Viola or Jeff Wall. The photo I am submitting creates a kind of connection between these two series.
