Great Dixter, Portrait of a garden

In late February 2017, Julian Anderson embarked on a project chronicling four seasons in the life of one of England’s most iconic and internationally renowned gardens—Great Dixter. Situated at Northiam, on the border of East Sussex and Kent, Dixter was created by the late Christopher Lloyd and is now under the stewardship of his protegee, Fergus Garrett and the Great Dixter Charitable Trust. Julian has visited Dixter on a weekly basis, working at various times of day and in different weather conditions with the simple aim of creating a portrait of the garden over one calendar year and throughout all four seasons. Julian’s take on the project has not necessarily been that of a professional garden/plants photographer; it is through the eyes of a portrait photographer.
