Encounters

I have been capturing and composing images since 1985, as a way of discovering or glimpsing the fundamental truths of this world. What can be learned from a mercantile stop on an Ozark highway, or a souvenir stand in Arizona? It depends on what you see and how you frame it. This search is about relationships: the quality and angle of light and its effects on the subject matter; concordant or discordant patterns, textures and tones; and the actions and reactions of the players in the picture. I capture images not merely to document a location or event, but to convey a meaning or emotion that emerges from the setting and arrangement of the subject.
