The sense of touch is a silent language of mutual support. Touch is capable of creating networks of emotional solidarity that unite and comfort. To feel alive and connected to other human beings we need touch. It is essential for our survival. That's why we always seek contact, and that's what I call tactile nostalgia. During childhood, touch is essential to feel security and calm.
But not only has this social and psychological aspect, the sense of touch is totally linked to our immune system.
Our skin develops the defence system of our entire body. It warns us of danger. And it generates and transfers all the responses to an attack.
The skin is our watchdog.
-The Trail of Touch- is an artistic and photographic project, with an academic and practical research on the concept of tactile nostalgia.
Exploring the haptic through the technique of liquid emulsion. A technique that allows me to print images on different materials, creating tactile photographic sculptures.
The project -Trail of Touch- is located in the darkroom where the sense of touch is essential under safe light. Cacti are the imaginary of this project. Plants that are beautiful to look at but we prefer not to touch..
The idea is to create a tension between what we see and what we touch. Between what we see fragile but is resistant. Between what we see and what we cannot feel. We need to confirm with our hands what our eyes see.
This project has been claiming and defending since 2017 the need and importance of touch to develop a healthy life emotionally and physiologically, from an artistic discipline that focuses on the sense of sight wants to address tactility.
