“Where Time Stands Still” is a project that documents the loss of a friend by suicide. It has been a sudden news and it has reached me at the beginning of my recovery from a bad depression and panic attacks. I have been known him since my childhood when we both used to spend our holidays at our houses on the Lake Maggiore, Piedmont, Northern Italy. We were part of a huge group of teenagers and we created a strong friendship that still exists nowadays. So this has been a bad struck for me. And the first time I came back to the lake after his death everything appeared as in a dream. I wanted to reproduced this sense of loss and unreal that I felt, using a Rollei A110 with a 110 format film, mainly used in the ‘80S. It reminded me of my youth. For these intimate pictures I used a color slide film developed in cross processing: a vague sense of nostalgia that no photo retouch can produce and soft and grainy results such as a painted canvas.
