The “Voelklinger Huette” – a moloch of steel, rust, mud and noise in almost endless dimensions. … or, nevertheless, rather a sea of colourfully rusty light, of wonderful forms done by the function, impregnated by recollections the enwrapping omnipresent heat …
This series is an ongoing project, it tells about my deep and intimate contact to the UNESCO world heritage “Voelklinger Huette” (“Voelklingen ironworks”) which is located in Germany, Saarland.
The “Voelklinger Huette Impressions” show my very private encounter with this industrial monument, gentled by the UNESCO.
While walking around the ironworks and climbing up on its towers and platforms, I get always the impression, that this big machine is not a thing but a living creature, just fallen asleep. There are vibrations, murmurs of voices, out of sight there seem to be people working in the underground – even if you are alone at this place you never feel the only person being around.
Maybe one time this monster will be going to awake again with a loud roar, stretching his arms and legs, being very very hungry….
