Stalking Boris

This project concerns privacy and how it is changing in society. The artist used social media to photographically stalk Boris Johnson, a Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom. A literal approach was used to question the practice by Facebook, Twitter and the UK Governments' use or misuse of societys' data and the implications to personal & private space. Social media provided the artist with the location and details of the public events and great care was taken only to photograph the subject while he was campaigning or promoting himself during press activities. The artist hoped to mirror how these entities are encroaching upon the publics' privacy. The images produced are 5x4 inch colour transparencies taken with a large format field camera. This visual aesthetic is the antithesis of modern surveillance imagery, which supports the artist's anti-surveillance message.
