"I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore" is a series created in reaction to the rise of anti immigrant sentiment in America, particularly the use of words like “infest” or “infestation” by anti-immigrant proponents to conjure fear of an imagined invasive “species.”
Rather than visually explore the politics of this issue, I am interested in focusing on actual perception. With the politics of people removed, as well as actual physical bodies, how is it that two otherwise similar people can see the emergence of something new as both beautiful and an infestation. Whereas one person may see a field of complimentary colors, another sees an invasion of weeds.
This series attempts to neutrally illustrate that dichotomy and the conflicts that arise from it.
The images are archival pigment prints with silk screened white paint to create the circular shape. The circular shape and the image details hidden beneath highlight the significance of point of view to this issue.
