Living in cities and towns, it was easy for me to deceive myself that I was more than a mere spec in the world. Surrounded by other humans, nature was less threatening, my capabilities further nurtured my comfort, my needs often times overshadowed the cries of nature, and my humanly importance grew. But every time I set foot outside and began to take steps away from the environments built by fellow humans, the vastness of nature always unveiled itself around me. Surrounded by thick forests, spacious desert dunes, and majestic mountains, I often found myself shaken to the core--my ego stripped down, and my soul stripped bare. Being immersed in nature often reminds me that I am just a spec on this planet, but even more so, it also reminds me to be conscious, humble, and respectful to every other bits and pieces which together shape the world we all live in.
