The project "Flying food" was created as a triptych of photos for the needs of classes at the photography school. I was inspired by the painting of Juan Sánchez Cotán, a Spanish painter of still lifes. Hence a stylistic reference to his works embedded in a square frames and a dark background. There were more ideas and the project "Flying food" began to grow. Each new idea for the next photo is first transferred to paper. I sketch various variants of frames and choose the one that suits me best. That's why it takes a lot of time to prepare each photo. From the sketch, through the selection of appropriate props and building a "levitating" installation. All levitating objects is hanging on threads or veins, which in post-production are removed in the graphic program. Pressing the shutter button on the camera is completed by the artwork.
I try to choose simple elements for my photos and show them in such a way as to interest and surprise the viewer. I take care that the composition of the frames is refined in every detail. I usually use a single light. I also use small reflectors, like a mirror, pieces of styrofoam or small blends. The main light thrown to the side creates an interesting, painterly atmosphere. It gives my photos a slightly Rembrandt appearance, by using light and shadow.
I love the creation process itself, probably even more than the end result. After finishing one photo, I think about the next one that appears in my head. I would like to continue this project, and its culmination will be an exhibition that I hope I can prepare one day.
