These images are from the third shoot of my ongoing 'Body Parts' studio project in which I use life-size mannequins to explore personal/political themes that have influenced me over the years.
I have always found the human body a mysterious, ugly/beautiful thing and wanted to 'deconstruct' it to understand why. To this end I took the mannequins apart and hung the pieces from a scaffolding frame before photographing them.
The results were very different from what I expected as they mostly suggested violence, sex and even death. The beauty is there, but it reveals itself in a shy, secretive way.
