We spend more than half our lives living in buildings. In Monuments, I seek to reveal the stage where the story of our lives plays out.
Different photos are taken with different techniques; some are taken with a large format camera, while others are composed of hundreds of photographs taken with a long lens composited to a create a single, richly detailed photo that enables one to experience the building every brick, texture and tone that makes up these buildings along with the lives that moves within them.
More broadly, the series is a story of people and buildings, for it is people, driven by jobs and the need for a paycheck and the desire to have an impact on the world, who build these monuments. It is people who live in them, maintain them and people who bring them down.
