In Dutch "Alles voor de show" has a double meaning. It can mean "everything for the show" or "Everything for show". This perfectly fits a sport like professional wrestling where winners a predetermined and chokeholds are done in a manner where the public can see the expression on the faces of the athletes. In the meantime wrestlers suffer plenty of injuries. Without any backing from a sports federation they have to sign a waiver before they even enter training. "Participate at your own risk, your insurance might not cover this".
In The Netherlands the sport is tiny. With less than 50 wrestlers performing for two promotions, Pro Wrestling Holland and Dutch Pro Wrestling.
Between half a dozen and a dozen performances are given in the country each year. Shows usually draw between 100 and 400 visitors, a far cry from the WWE some in the country know.
Part of an ongoing project.
