i moved to Nampa, Idaho almost six years ago. It was three years before I realized that the trains rolling through this town offered great photo possibilities. Everyone who grew up here ignored or barely noticed the iconic nature of the majesty of these roaring beasts. I guess there was too much going on in the mediated, wired tech world to realize that there was a daily art show moving through town. i began photographing everything from the engines, the stacks of boxcars, the fading colors, the detailed graffiti, and the loud flow of the tracks of moving commerce in an artistic rendering that implied my sensibility rather than the factual nature of a documentary nature. Although my investigations were primarily for personal reasons, young folks saw my work and became huge fans of my vision which i did not even know i had. Now local galleries and my Instagram followers love to showcase the work, and everyone's very proud of supporting my efforts, a surprising new voice to a symbol of this town. I guess art is everywhere. We just have to pay attention.
