Zemo Nikozi /Georgia is a village situated at the demarcation line to South Ossetia, near the South Ossetian capital Zchinwali. In August 2008 it was the center of the Five-Day War, when Russian tanks rolled across the border into Georgia. Since that time Zemo Nikozi is left rather isolated - it is completely cut off from Zchinwali, with no possibility to cross the border. Zchinwali was very important to the village before the war. There was a busy trade relationship - the villagers delivered fruit and vegetables to the city - and most of all, as a result of that war with hundreds of deaths, a lot of families, friends and lovers were separated and people were left traumatized. And that’s the situation till today.
